After we initially created our series of AR Instagram filters at the end of 2020, nobody cared about them once they were published. As we were fresh graduates, we hadn’t realised that making a project and publishing wouldn’t automatically invite users, unlike university projects where you always had access to other students for testing.

In early 2021, we came up with a social media campaign as a communication strategy to push the AR filters forward, promote them, send them to people around the globe, actively inviting users to find and use our AR work in the most impactful way possible.

We messaged 30+ friends around the globe who all used the filters and asked them to pass on the word, this created the #MenstruationConversation, a period positivity campaign about the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful of menstruation.
